AMERICAN MACHINE
A new play by James Lantz, writer/producer of The Bus
FlynnSpace, September 25 - October 7

Part parable on the American dream, part cautionary tale taken from the headlines, American Machine tells the story of a great factory that once made parts for classic American cars. As a makeshift family of six friends come together each night to work, they're soon faced with rumors that their employer will be downsizing—or even closing altogether. As they begin working on a new order—making buckets and mops for Wal-Mart—the prospect of being split up looms before them, and their dedication to the once-proud factory is put to the test.

Opening Night Benefit
On Tuesday evening, September 25th, the opening night performance of American Machine will benefit The Burlington Schools Food Project. 100% of all proceeds from this show will go to the project to support healthy fruits and vegetables for students at Burlington schools and to support CSA farm shares for food service employees at Burlington school cafeterias.

Tickets to the Opening Night Benefit Performance for The Burlington Schools Food Project may be purchased for $15 in advance at the information desk at City Market in Burlington, or $20 at the door.

Blogger’s Night
Thursday, September 27th
Burlington’s top bloggers will be invited to the September 27th show of American Machine. If you have a favorite blogger, let us know who they are and we’ll invite them. The blogger will get a ticket to the show, then all we ask is that they blog about our show within 24 hours. What they say is up to them—what they see on September 27th is up to us.

Talkback with Writer and Cast
After the matinee on Saturday, September 29, join the cast and playwright of American Machine for a post-show discussion. The audience will be invited to ask questions as the creative team discusses the making of American Machine.

Burlington Book Festival
Once again we’re honored to be a part of the Burlington Book Festival. Join us at the book fest in September when we’ll be on a panel called, ‘From Page to Stage’ discussing how a written play moves to a full-blown production.

Booked For Lunch
When the Fletcher Free Library opens its ‘Booked for Lunch’ series on September 20th, American Machine will be the first work selected for the series. Join the playwright and several cast members as they discuss American Machine.

South End Art Hop
When Burlington gets hopping in September, we’ll be there. Look for us at The Soda Plant in the Conant Custom Brass building, where we'll have our set on display alongside other great local art. Come on by and grab a postcard for your fridge. Burlington’s South End Art Hop, September 7th and 8th.
